About Me

I’m a tutor, assessor, mother, and carer with over 30 years of experience in the childcare sector. I’m passionate about learning, inclusivity, and encouraging growth. My personal and professional experience ensures that I have the tools and techniques to provide a compassionate service to every client.

Children have always played a big part in my life. I have three children of my own, three stepchildren, and four grandchildren. It’s important to me that every child has the best start in life, and that those with disabilities are supported in an inclusive way. To help me better understand and help with childcare, I obtained a Degree with honours in Early Childhood Studies from London Metropolitan University, as well as an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education. I am also SENCO (special education needs coordination) trained, and have both experience and qualifications in safeguarding children, adults, and disabled children.

Alongside my childcare studies, I’m also passionate about Makaton. I am a qualified Makaton trainer, registered with the Makaton Charity. My eldest son was born with Prader Willi Syndrome and when we discovered Makaton, we could finally communicate. My dad had dementia and I used Makaton with him so we could still communicate when he could no longer talk. I hope to share these joyful, positive experiences that Makaton has brought me, with everyone. My goal is to ensure inclusivity for all through encouraging Makaton learning nationwide.

From these personal and professional experiences, I’ve developed an in-depth understanding of individual needs. I try to plan my courses around the specific requirements of each person or group, and to offer the services you need to thrive.
